Brentford want Liverpool midfielder

Brentford want Liverpool midfielder Joao Teixeira, according to a report by The Sun.

Teixeira, who can play behind the striker or as a winger, spent time on loan with Brentford in 2013.  However during this time he only made two appearances as Brentford’s form slumped and Teixeira was dropped, leading Liverpool to recall him.

Brentford would now like to re-sign the midfielder on loan, to bolster their squad for the season ahead.

Teixeira spent last season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, where he made 35 appearances and scored 6 goals.  On 14 April during a match with Huddersfield, the midfielder suffered a broken leg and was recalled by Liverpool.

Despite the injury, Teixeira still finished as the club’s top scorer in the league and won Brighton’s Young Player of the Year.

Teixeira’s lack of game time at Liverpool could leave the player open to a move out on loan to the Championship, however Liverpool may want to keep the player for the Europa League.
