YOUNG PLAYER OF THE WEEKEND: Josh Windass – Accrington Stanley

When you’re the son of an ex-footballer, it can be pretty difficult to step out of their shadow. It can be even more difficult when that shadow is Dean Windass and that’s not because of his chunky frame.

Josh Windass has impressed at Accrington for a while now and he stamped his importance on the club after scoring twice in their 4-2 win against Exeter. It was a quality performance from their young forward, who has regularly lifted the play around him to make Stanley a better team.

The win lifts the Lancashire club into sixth and after beating a well-fancied promotion side, it might be time to be considering John Coleman’s side’s aspirations for the season.
