Wilson not be leaving Old Trafford for Championship

Wolverhampton Wanderers boss Kenny Jackett has revealed that he believes in-demand Manchester United striker will be remaining at Old Trafford. Several clubs, including Wolves, have enquired about taking the youngster on loan.

It is believed that Reds manager Louis van Gaal wants to keep the 19-year-old in his squad due to a lack of striking options. Other than Wayne Rooney and recent signing Anthony Martial, the Dutchman requires another out-and-out striker to bolster his options. News of that will disappoint several Championship managers such as Neil Lennon, Russell Slade, Steve Bruce, Paul Clement and Jackett, who revealed the news at a fans forum last night. Up to 20 clubs are said to have expressed an interest in signing him.

The Birmingham Mail are one of a number of sources covering this story, and Jackett, who has been searching for a striker himself, doesn’t believe Wilson will be moving clubs anytime soon,

“The information is he’s not available. They’re keeping him there for the time being.

There’s been a number of clubs who have enquired about him and at one stage they’d been saying perhaps he could go. The timing of it is always something and if he was available would there be some interest from us? There has been in the past, yes.”

Wolves have been dealt a big blow with news that Nouha Dicko is out for the season with a serious knee injury and whilst he did reveal that Crystal Palace striker Frazier Campbell isn’t on his radar, he is still looking to add to his squad in the loan market,

“You are always looking to strengthen, you’re always aware of centre forwards if we get an injury at the moment. But, having said that, both (Rajiv) Van La Parra and young Bright (Enobakhare) have looked very good. I wouldn’t hesitate to give them an opportunity if I thought it was necessary.”

With news that Wilson is likely to stay at the Premier League giants, clubs such as Bolton Wanderers, Cardiff City, Hull City, Derby County and Wolverhampton Wanderers will be pursuing other targets in a bid to improve their striker options.
