Laurent extends stay with Newport

Newport County have secured the services of midfielder Josh Laurent for an additional month after his arrival from Brentford, according to the club’s official website.

Laurent has only started for Port in their Johnstone’s Paint Trophy fixture against Swindon but has made two substitute appearances in League Two.

The 20-year-old midfielder is hoping that he will be able to get more game time as the loan progresses and is relishing the challenge so far.

He said: “I am really enjoying my time here. The lads are great and the training is good. The manager is always welcoming telling me where I can improve and helping me progress as a player.

“In the next month I just want to get as much game-time as I can and help the boys get the first three points.”

Newport have had a difficult start to the season and currently lie bottom of League Two.

Next up they face Dagenham and Redbridge and will hope to add to their points tally.

With just one point from their opening seven games, getting off the mark soon could be crucial.
