Birmingham v Nottingham Forest – Match Preview

Forest travel to Birmingham on the back of a confidence boosting away win at QPR, coming back to win 2-1 after Charlie Austin opened the scoring.

Birmingham, however, are unbeaten this year and have lost just 2 of 19 home games under Gary Rowett in the league, so Forest face a very difficult test.

Birmingham beat Bristol City 4-2 on Saturday thanks to a first half hat-trick from Clayton Donaldson, his first, second and third goals of the year. Donaldson is the man to watch for Birmingham, with 3 goals and 6 assists in just 5 games – an incredible start for the 31 year old.

Forest may have sold early season star Michail Antonio, but managed to keep Henri Lansbury despite rumours of him going to Burnley in the summer. Lansbury is a talented midfielder who could make the difference for the away side.

Forest have conceded in each of their last three games, and Birmingham have been far from solid so far, so as we said for the Bristol City game, Both Teams To Score at 5/8 or Both Teams To Score + Home Win at 13/5 seems a relatively safe bet. Birmingham have scored first in every game so far this year, so Birmingham to be Winning at Half-Time might be a good bet at 9/5.
