Leeds United ‘are on track to achieve’ targets says Rosler

Leeds United head coach Uwe Rosler insists that his side are still ‘on track to achieve’ their targets this season after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Brentford, the club’s official site reports.

The result against Brentford means that the Whites remain unbeaten in their first six league games this season, five draws and one win away to Derby County puts Rosler’s men in 12th place in the table, two points off Hull City in 6th.

Despite a lack of wins, the Leeds boss admits that his side are still in line to achieve their goal of a top 10 finish this season. Rosler is quoted by the official club website as saying “I think it’s very important that we never lose our targets out of our sights.

“It was crystal clear that we want to improve and we want to build and we want to be better than last year.

“Hopefully we will finish in the top 10, that was the target from day one and that will not change. That will not change with the unbeaten run and it will not change if we have one or two disappointing results.

Six goals between strikers Chris Wood and Mirco Antenucci means that Leeds are one of four teams in the league to secure at least a point in every match, and Rosler has highlighted the need to keep that momentum going if his side are going to succeed this season.

“I said to the players ‘We can’t be careless to give the momentum away’,” said the Leeds boss, “on Saturday we got a draw and wanted the win, everybody could see we wanted the win, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t careless.

“There were one or two crazy things that we did, but overall we’re Marching on Together.”

Leeds United welcome Ipswich Town to Elland Road on Tuesday night, with their opponents sitting in 8th place and coming off the back of a 5-1 defeat to Reading in their last league outing.
