Leeds United: Charlie Taylor talks to LUTV

Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor was a promising youngster when he was thrown into first team action after Stephen Warnock’s mid-season transfer to Derby County. Now he’s a first team regular and first-choice left back at Elland Road.

The Academy-produced youngster has been in excellent form for Leeds United in the five games he has played in the 2015/16 Championship campaign so far. Defensively, the youngster has put up the following stats: 10 tackles from 10 attempts (100% success), 17 interceptions, 15 defensive blocks (two shots, eight crosses, five passes), 12 clearances and five headed ball won from nine attempts (55.55% success). If you translate these into an average ‘per game’ basis then Charlie Taylor performs around 15 defensive actions per match.

LUTV, Leeds United’s in-house TV channel, caught up with Charlie Taylor for a brief chat.

Three things from Charlie Taylor

When asked about his assessment of the first month of the season

“I think it’s been a good month for us really. As everyone knows, we are unbeaten. I think that last week against Derby was vital really. Like I say, it’s five games unbeaten now in the league and we’re up to 10th and in the top half.”

When asked if the win at Derby has added that little extra to the team

“Yeah, I think that win was crucial. I think that now we’ve got that first win under our belt we can kick on now.”

When asked about hasving to ‘dig in’ against Derby

“Straight after half time, the crowd got up early and got behind them and it was a tough 20 minute period. I know we conceded but we came through it well. We finished the stronger, we looked the fitter team.”
