International call for Charlton defender

Charlton Athletic defender Morgan Fox has been handed a call up for the Wales senior squad, reports South London Press.

Wales are set to play Cyprus and Israel in a crunch double header as they look to qualify for their first major international tournament since the 1958 World Cup.

Fox has impressed for Charlton at left-back. So much so that he has displaced fellow Welshman Rhoys Wiggins who was sold to Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the summer.

Fox is a product of Charlton’s youth system and had a loan spell at Notts County in the 2013/14 season, where he played seven games for the League One club. After this successful loan spell, he made several appearances for Charlton in the second half of the season and was rewarded with a new three year deal, which keeps him under contract at the Valley until 2017.

Last season the defender made 22 appearances for Charlton in the Championship and he has played every minute of Charlton’s league campaign so far this season. He has also won seven caps for Wales at Under-21 level.

Fox joins fellow Championship players Chris Gunter, Jazz Richards, Adam Henley, Dave Edwards, Sam Vokes, Simon Church, Hal Robson-Kanu, David Cotterill, Tom Lawrence and League One’s Jordan Williams.
