Antonio’s move to West Ham now in doubt

Michail Antonio’s potential move from Nottingham Forest to West Ham United is now in serious doubt. Sky Sports today reports how talks have broken down and that the deal isn’t likely to be completed before the 6pm deadline.

The Mirror believes that the stumbled block surrounding the transfer surrounds the fact that Nottingham Forest want the £7million asking price up front. The Hammers are believed to be interested in paying either in instalments or bonuses regarding certain clauses.

Antonio, who scored 15 goals for the City Ground club last season, has been subject of transfer talk throughout the summer. It all started when a bid from Derby County was rejected, leading to his manager Dougie Freedman leaving him out of the squad for the game with Charlton Athletic.

The winger hasn’t hid from the fact that he would like to play in the Premier League at some stage, however with today’s develops it is becoming increasing unlikely that he’ll be fulfilling that wish any time soon. He has made a return to the Nottingham Forest side and scored in a recent game versus Cardiff City.

It is believed that Forest have signed Lille’s Ryan Mendes earlier today, potentially as a replacement for Antonio. However it now looks as though the pair could be team mates once the international break is concluded and the Football League action resumes.
