Vydra set for season-long Reading loan

Sky Sports is today reporting that Watford striker Matej Vydra will be joining Championship side Reading on a season-long loan. The loan fee to conclude the deal is expected to be £2million and this should be concluded in the next few hours.

Reading boss Steve Clarke has been desperately trying to improve his striking options ever since Pavel Pogrebnyak made a shock move to join Russian side Dynamo Moscow earlier this month. Another rumoured target Ricky van Wolfswinkel yesterday moved to La Liga side Real Betis. However Clarke now looks to finally have got his man and it just happens to be a proven Championship goal scorer.

23-year-old Vydra played a key role as Watford earned promotion to the Premier League last season, scoring 16 goals in 42 games with the Vicarage Road club. He has been linked with a move to fellow Championship sides Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City. However the 2012/13 Championship Player of the Season now appears to have identified the club he wishes to join.

The Czech Republic international only as recently as July penned a five-year deal to permanent sign for Watford from Udinese. However Quique Sánchez Flores wants the striker to go out and score more goals at a level he is already proven at, after struggling to make an impact in the Premier League during a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion.

Clarke is still believed to be in the hunt for more players to bolster his squad before the 6pm deadline today. Yesterday the club announced the loan signing of Chelsea playmaker Lucas Piazon.
