QPR expect Austin and Phillips to remain at the club

West London Sport reports that Queens Park Rangers duo Charlie Austin and Matty Phillips aren’t expected to leave before today’s 6pm transfer deadline. Both have been linked with moves to the Premier League for the majority of the summer.

Austin especially has been at the centre of a tug-of-war with a number of suitors, with clubs such as Leicester City, Crystal Palace, AFC Bournemouth and Newcastle United being heavily linked with the English frontman. The Foxes have seen an offer rejected but it appears that the £15million asking price is too steep for clubs to part with the cash.

Boss Chris Ramsay and director of football Les Ferdinand have been identifying targets just in case Austin should depart the club. Club Brugge’s Obbi Oularé was the latest man to be linked with a move to Loftus Road, and should Austin leave at the last minute, then the Belgian could make a late move to join the club.

Phillips is another in-demand QPR player and was subject of an offer from West Bromwich Albion earlier this summer. That was subsequently rejected and no new bid has come in for him or team mate Austin. Therefore, the club are now quietly confident of the duo remaining at the club beyond today’s 6pm transfer deadline.

In other news, Leroy Fer and Sandro are in discussions with PSV Eindhoven and AC Milan respectively in relation to loan moves. Both are expected to be completed later today. Junior Hoilett and Armand Traore are both available on free transfers, whilst Ramsay hopes to sign Watford centre back Gabriele Angella on loan with the view of a permanent deal.
