Derby in Ram raid for Premier League regular

The Daily Mail are reporting that Derby County are in the hunt for Norwich City’s Bradley Johnson.

Norwich City’s established midfielder could very well be set for a move away from Carrow Road as he seeks the guarantee of first team football with the Daily Mail stating that Derby County is his most likely destination. The move has been brought about by two main factors; Johnson’s desire for regular first team action and a struggle to earn a consistent place in the starting line-up.

The former Leeds man was something of a stalwart for Norwich last season, making 44 appearances and scoring 15 goals for the Carrow Lane club. However, despite last season’s impressive showing, Johnson has only made one Premier League start this campaign.

The Daily Mail report that Johnson, who only signed a new three-year deal in February, is “expected to be a Derby player” by the close of the transfer window at 6pm this evening.

With Derby looking to improve on their effectiveness in front of goal, the signing of Johnson, a proven player at Championship level, would be one that could turn out beneficial for the Rams.
