Brentford: Bees buzz in for Liverpool youngster loan deal

As reported on the Brentford website, the Bees have buzzed in and signed Liverpool youngster Sergi Canós from Liverpool on a half-season loan. 18-year old Canós, a Spanish youth international, will remain at Griffin Park until January 3, 2016 and will train with Brentford for the first time tomorrow.

Before signing for Liverpool in 2013, the Spanish youngster made his way through the renowned Barcelona youth system. Canós can play a variety of attacking positions, both wide and through the middle of the park and signed professional forms for Liverpool last summer, still at the tender age of 17. Despite being eligible for the Liverpool Youth Team, Canós made his debut for Liverpool’s U-21 side, scoring one in three games in this season’s U21 Premier League and one in 16 appearances for the U-21’s last season, albeit with four assists.

Brentford head coach Marius Dijkhuizen is happy that they have landed the talented youngster, telling the website that,

“I am pleased we have been able to bring Sergi in to the Club. He is very good technically and is a quick attacking player. He gives us an extra option on the wings. He is young and talented and we will be able to help his continued development by giving him a chance to train and play at Championship level.” Marius Dijkhuizen: Brentford club website – August 31, 2015

This sentiment is also echoed by Brentford’s co-Director of Football, Phil Giles, who stressed the need for trust with more prestigious teams as they loan youngsters to Brentford who can then “play a positive role in the ongoing development of their best young players.”
