According to several sources today, including The Northern Echo, Middlesbrough are set to complete a move for AC Milan goalkeeper Michael Agazzi in the next few days with the 31 year-old having had a medical this morning.
The experienced Italian keeper joined Milan last year but failed to make a single senior appearance for the club after his transfer from Chievo.
Agazzi has spent the entirety of his career so far in Italy, making a name for himself with lower league outfit Triestina between 2004 and 2010 along with loans to Sassuolo and Foggia during his time with the Serie D club.
In 2010 the keeper was snapped up by then-Serie A club Cagliari and went on to make over 120 appearances for the Red-Blues during his four year stint with them.
Joining Chievo in the January transfer window of 2014, Agazzi spent just four months in Verona before joining Milan in the summer.
Despite Agazzi training with the squad and having undertaken a medical, Boro boss Aitor Karanka was tight-lipped when speaking to the clubs official website:
“I can’t say anything [about names] because we’re working. I know the keeper and his personality so let’s see if everything can happen.
