Brighton in surprise move for Premier League forward

According to a report yesterday, Championship club Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Sunderland forward Danny Graham in a surprise move.

The deal is understood to be a season-long loan deal to take Graham to Brighton, after the forward was told he can leave by Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat.

Graham himself is also reportedly open to the move, and willing to leave Sunderland in order to play more first team football.  The forward, 30, has struggled at Sunderland and never been in any kind of form, highlighted by his tally of one goal in 27 appearances.

Since joining Sunderland, Graham has had loan spells with Hull City, Middlesbrough and Wolves.  The most prolific of these spells was Graham’s time at Middlesbrough, where he struck 6 times in 18 appearances for the club.

It now seems that Graham could be moving back down into the Championship on loan with Brighton for the season.  However Brighton boss Chris Hughton could face difficulties in convincing Graham to move from the North East to the South Coast.
