Chesterfield bring in Blues forward

Chesterfield have signed Birmingham striker Lee Novak on a season long loan.

The forward has been at St. Andrews for two years and has featured a lot during those years, but a change in style and management have left him in the cold.

Chesterfield scored three in their opening win, so are not desperate for goals, but feel Novak can do a job for them.

Though he was brought in as a natural striker, he has been mostly used out wide and can play anywhere along the front.

He played up top for Huddersfield before in League One, where he dovetailed with Jordan Rhodes, who smashed in a record number of goals.

He is intelligent and hard-working, however sometimes lacks the pace that would make him a very good Championship player.

10 goals in 52 Championship games isn’t brilliant as a striker, but as a wideman it’s pretty solid. He can finish if given the chance, but he’s not a natural finisher.

Birmingham have now allowed two players to leave on loan in the last week, so fans are expecting two to come in – a forward and a defender. Rumours of Dutch forward Henk Veerman have been floating around, but the club have denied any interest in the player.
