Coventry buoyed by injury news ahead of trip to Millwall

Coventry City head into the game at Millwall on Saturday with the return of one key defender and potentially the return of others. Speaking to the clubs official website, manager Tony Mowbray revealed how Jordan Willis is now fit and that Reda Johnson and Lee Burge could also return as well.

Willis took parts in the clubs opening day victory against Wigan Athletic but was forced off in the first half after suffering from concussion. He subsequently missed the midweek penalty shootout loss at Rochdale, but has since resumed training and will be a part of the squad.

Johnson endured an injury-plagued season in the previous campaign so Mowbray has been cautious about playing him in too many games with very little time between matches. He too has resumed training after starting against Wigan and being rested versus Rochdale. Aaron Martin stepped in his place and performed admirably, however Johnson is certainly one of the team’s first choice players.

Burge should be available to return in goal after youngster Reice Charles-Cook was tried out for the cup game. He too performed with credit but having a more experienced pair of hands between the sticks will be beneficial for Mowbray when travelling to an intimidating venue such as The Den.

Conor Thomas has also made a comeback into training, however he is likely to need a bit longer to recover following a slight groin problem. This was sustained after supposedly over-working during training and with a quick run of games coming up, he won’t be rushed back.
