Rovers captain in demand; watched by Palace

Blackburn Rovers Captain Grant Hanley was watched by both Everton and Crystal Palace during the 2-1 home defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Hanley, capped 17 times by Scotland, divides opinion amongst Rovers supporters. Whilst considerable experienced at such a young age, Hanley has played over 135 games for the club since making his debut under Sam Allardyce aged just 18.

Hanley’s physicality cannot be questioned however many supporters feel he is too rash, lacks a turn of pace and has failed to improve over the previous 2 seasons.

He does however possess the potential to be a consistent, strong competent defender and that is something that has caught the eye of both Premier League clubs.

Fierce local rivals Burnley had a bid of £2m rejected and a further adjusted bid of £2m (the second bid offered £1m up front) again rejected out of hand.

Club sources have said that whilst Hanley would be available for transfer at £4m the club are unwilling to sell to their local rivals.
