The new Football League season begins this Friday, as Brighton take on Nottingham Forest.
It’s sure to make for an interesting opener, with both teams hoping to get off to a good start after an underwhelming campaign for both of them last year. Brighton finished just above the relegation zone, while Forest finished in the bottom half of the league, ending the campaign in 14th place.
With both teams raring to go and with the new season drawing ever closer, we’ve decided to take a look at three of the best bets to place on this match. Hopefully at least one of these tips will be a winner!

Nottingham Forest to win – 11/5
In the last six seasons, Brighton have faced Forest at home four different times and they’ve won just one of those meetings. Forest have got the upper-hand the most, winning half of the four meetings between them and I expect them to snatch another win against the Seagulls on Friday. The Reds have several forwards who can score goals and they’ve also added Jamie Ward who could feature and I just see them being too much for Brighton’s defence to handle.
Both teams to score – 10/11
In four of the last five meeting between the two sides, both teams have scored. It seems as if when these two sides meet, they both go goal crazy and manage to put a few past each other. Again I expect that run to continue here because, as previously mentioned, Forest have several strikers who are capable of hitting the back of the net and Brighton have also added two new forwards to their team this summer in Zamora and Hemed and if either of them feature, they will want to get off to a good start.
Goals: Over 2.5 – 6/5
I know, it’s another tip based on goalscoring but I really feel as if there will be quite a few balls hitting the back of the net in this game. Both teams will be eager to get off to a flyer and I can see this first game of the season being filled with goals.
