Ex-Derby and Doncaster striker Theo Robinson on trial at Stevenage

Former Doncaster and Derby striker Theo Robinson was handed a trial by League Two side Stevenage in their 1-1 draw against Maldon and Tiptree, The Comet reports.

The 26-year-old was one of 11 trialists who played for Teddy Sheringham’s side in their pre-season draw against the non-league outfit.

Robinson, who is capped internationally by Jamaica, made 83 appearances during his time at Derby, scoring 23 and assisting 3. He then moved onto Doncaster where he featured 72 times, finding the net on 10 occasions and helping out with 4 assists. Before making the move to Derby, Robinson played for Huddersfield Town where he managed 51 games, scoring 16 times.

The Boro are looking to recruit more strikers as they look to provide support for Brett Williams and Adam Marriott. The aim this season will be to secure promotion after missing out on success in the League Two Play-Offs last season.
