Championship: looking to 2015/16 – part 2 stats

Reading

Last season 19th place finish (47 pts – 1.02 points p/game)

Projected finish 2015/16 – 17th

Reading were another team who gave as much as they received when it came to shooting opportunities in the 2014/15 Championship, ending the season with an overall TSR of .510 (marginally superior to their opponents’ share of the shots) and having a SoTR of .476. However, what was damning for Reading was the fact that they had a low conversion of goals from on-target shots (25.87% shooting%), scoring only 48 goals from 185 shots on target. This underperformance in attack was also compounded by allowing teams to score more from their shots on-target (opposition shooting% – 33.84%) as Reading’s keeper/s only managed a save% of 66.14%, the fifth lowest in the Championship. Both of these combined gave an end-of-season PDO rating of 92.01, a figure that highlights their underperformance. In order to rectify this, Reading have brought in Wigan keeper Ali  Al-Habsi (free transfer), Hull City duo Stephen Quinn and Paul McShane as well as youngster Lisandro Semedo (Sporting Lisbon U19 – free) and Orlando Sá (Legia Warsaw – £1.05m) where they will be hoping that he can replicate the 13 league goals for Warsaw that were scored at the rate of a goal per 123 minutes.
