Palace striker set to sign for Fulham

According to reports, Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle is set to sign for Championship side Fulham on a season-long loan deal.

The news comes as Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Connor Wickham from Sunderland for £9 million.  This signing, along with the capture of Patrick Bamford from Chelsea earlier in the transfer window has pushed Gayle down the pecking order, leaving him with few other options than to leave.

Alan Pardew is also reportedly trying to reduce the wage budget at Selhurst Park.  As Gayle has spent most of his time on the bench after signing for Palace for £6 million, Pardew would rather see him leave than spend another season not playing.

Gayle is a pacey striker and will no doubt do very well in the Championship, after scoring a respectable 12 goals in 48 appearances the Premier League.

With Fulham’s squad overhaul still very much underway, they are looking a much stronger team this season who will be looking to challenge for a play-off place.
