According to the Nottingham Post, Gary Gardner could be on his way back to Nottingham Forest on another loan deal.

Gardner may be on his way out of Villa Park next summer, as he’s failed to break into the squad over a number of years.

However Forest are unable to pay for a player at current, so would have to wait until next year to sign him permanently.

The midfielder’s introduction to the team last year paved the way for Robert Tesche’s exit last year, and it is well documented that Birmingham City have tried to sign Tesche again this year.

However, the Blues have already signed a midfielder in Maikel Kieftenbeld, which means that they are less likely to move for Tesche this summer.

Gardner played 18 times for Forest last year, scoring 4 times.
