Demarai Gray – Birmingham City

There is no doubt that City fans had the ‘blues’ when fan favourite Nathan Redmond swapped St. Andrews for Carrow Road, but Demarai Gray seems to be filling the void left by Redmond. It’s a scary thought that Gray is not the finished article, the speedster seems to relish taking on defenders, he completed sixty-six dribbles last season! ‘Dimmy’ has found his way into the Blues fans hearts and there will be a lot more to see from this youngster next season. Last season Gray was a bit inconsistent, team-mate Stephen Gleeson thinks that “he has everything” but comments on how if he finds consistency, he can take his game to the next level.

Gray signed a deal that will see him stay at St. Andrews until 2018, manager Gary Rowett seems thrilled that he still has such a talented player on his hands. This must be welcome news for Blues fans, Gray’s future had been hanging in the balance, Premier League new-boys Bournemouth were looking to tempt Gray down to the south coast. It’s good to see Gray is not rushing to the Premier League, signing the new contract shows he is interested in his development, not the money. Things are looking positive for Blues, in previous seasons they would be looking to sell talented individuals so money could be brought into the club, now they can decide the best outcome for club and player.

Keep an eye out for Gray, the 19 year old will be terrorising full-backs all season. Dimmy is looking all set for the 2015.16 campaign, he’s had a solid pre-season and recently scored a wonder-goal against Premier League side Leicester City. If Gray does have a consistent season, City will have a job on their hands fending off the big clubs from pinching this talented individual.
