Brentford owner says NO permission to speak to Andre Gray

Despite rumours surfacing that cash-laden Hull City, who are reputedly looking for between four and five new faces were seemingly in the hunt for Brentford striker Andre Gray, it seems that this isn’t the case.

After TNC Football League broke the news (below) that Andre Gray had been “given permission” to approach the Tigers, questions began to circulate from concerned Bees fans. These fans were worried that their 16 goal, 8 assist striker could soon be on the move.

As well as this alleged permission to speak to Hull City, The Hull Daily Mail also claimed that Gray was on Tigers manager Steve Bruce’s ‘wishlist’ as the Hull boss looked to spend some of the £25m he has from transfer fees received from James Chester (£7.9m to West Brom), Robbie Brady (£7m to Norwich) and Tom Ince (£4.69m to Derby). The pot will be topped up to the £25m with the £5m transfer of Abel Hernandez to Italian side Torino.

However, denial that this was the case, came from no other than Matthew Benham, owner of Brentford themselves and Andre Gray’s employer. This unequivocal “No” was in response to a question on Twitter (below) enquiring just what the state of play was regarding Brentford and Gray.

In the Media, sources and accreditation are the main things behind a story and they don’t come clearer and more out of the horses mouth than this rumour denial.
