Get West London have today reported that QPR are lining up a bid believed to be in the region of £1.6 million for Southend’s keeper Daniel Bentley following the 22 year-olds stand out campaign for the Shrimpers last season.
Rangers have recently sold Alex McCarthy to Crystal Palace and are in the market for a new man between-the-sticks and Bentley has emerged as a top target for Chris Ramsey.
Bentley is entering into the final year of his contract at Roots Hall and the Seasides risk losing their prized asset on a free transfer next season should the keeper fail to pen a new deal.
Southend have already rejected bids for Bentley, some in January and most recently a £1 million offer from Hull City at the start of the summer.
The towering 6’4″ keeper has been with the Blues his whole career since joining them as a 16 year-old and has gone on to make nearly 100 appearances for the Essex-based club.
For his heroic penalty saves in the play-off final which saw Southend promoted to League One, and the consistently impressive performances he put in throughout the season, Bentley was named in the PFA Team of the Year.
