Cardiff boss denies interest in Wales winger

Cardiff boss Russell Slade has today denied being interested in Wales winger David Cotterill.

It was previously reported that Cardiff were close to signing the player as he wanted to return closer to home to be nearer to his family.  However it now appears that these reports were not accurate.

These rumors were fueled further when Cotterill was left on the bench for current club Birmingham’s recent friendly against Burton Albion but this now seems to be unrelated.

Birmingham fans will be very pleased with this latest development, as Cotterill has been a very important player for Birmingham and more recently Wales.  The winger has had a big part to play in Wales’ Euro 2016 qualifying campaign, making a name for himself on an international stage.

It is unclear what Cardiff fans would have made of the transfer, with Cotterill having received death threats from Bluebirds fans after scoring a penalty for Swansea against Cardiff in the past.

It seems that for the moment at least, Cotterill will remain a Birmingham player.
