Leeds United: transfer target future decided this week?

It’s in the news more often than HRH The Queen throwing a childhood salute but it appears that the future of one Leeds United target, the imposing 6’5″ Felipe Avenatti, will be decided this week, according to an interview on italian wesbsite Ternananews.it. who state that, with confirmed interest from Leeds United plus reputed interest from others including Watford and Aston Villa,

“La prossima settimana potrebbero arrivare novità importanti. La prossima settimana potrebbero arrivare novità importanti.” Ternananews.it July 24, 2015

“Next week [we] could get important news.” Translation

Further to this, perhaps preceding it, Italian website tuttomercatoweb also mention that the agent of Felipe Avenatti, Daniel Delgado, spoke about the situation and stressed that whilst interest has been seen from Leeds United that it is more of the ‘enquiry type’ than any firm offer by the club. Speaking to Ternananews, Delgado is quoted as saying,

“Per ora non ci sono novità, per il momento non c’è niente di nuovo e Felipe resta un giocatore della Ternana. Il Leeds sulle sue tracce? Si gli inglesi hanno fatto un sondaggio per lui, ma nulla di più, non c’è niente”. Tuttomercatoweb July 24, 2015

“Currently there is no news for the moment there is nothing new, Felipe is a Ternana player. Leeds on his trail? You British have done a survey for him, but nothing more, there is nothing.” Translation

The president of Ternana Calcio, Simone Longarini, also clarified the position of the club regarding Avenatti and in doing so laid bare what terms the club would be selling on. Longarini mentioned that any sale of Felipe Avenatti would not be down to just selling him with the club needing the money. Longarini said,

“Non abbiamo bisogno di vedere Avenatti per fare cassa”. Simone Longarini, July 25, 2015

“We do not need to see [the sale of] Avenatti to make money” Translation

With all of that in mind, it seems that the future of Felipe Avenatti, be it in Italy or England, at Leeds United or elsewhere, will be decided at some point this coming week. Whenever and whoever it is with, it will bring an end to weeks of will he, won’t he speculation.
