After reports the last few days suggesting that Sheffield United are looking to sign former player Darius Henderson, BBC Radio Sheffield journalist Andy Giddings may have put the rumours to bed.
Henderson has been subject to rumours linking him to a return to Bramall Lane but nothing has been confirmed or denied by more reliable sources and ones closer to the club. Until now. Andy Giddings, a BBC Radio Sheffield journalist tweeted a definitive and slightly sarcastic tweet saying:
Understand there’s no truth to rumours suggesting Darius Henderson is training with #sufc. #dontbelieveeverythingyouread.

In his previous spell with Sheffield United, Henderson made 80 appearances in a red and white shirt as well as netting 21 times and assisting 12 times. In his entire career, the 6 foot striker has bagged 117 goals in 401 appearances and has played a total of 26,286 minutes of football (Source: TransferMarkt). However, Henderson has only played 29 times in League One but has scored 13 goals during his League One exploits.
Sheffield United could perhaps do with a striker like Darius Henderson. His ability to find the net in League One is something that will surely make Nigel Adkins an interested man. Also, one thing the Blades seemingly struggled to do last season was score goals. The South Yorkshire outfit only mustered 66 goals in total last season which is less than any other team that finished the season in the top 6 positions.
However, with this one tweet, it seems that Darius Henderson’s potential move to the Blades is off and the striker will not make a return to Bramall Lane.
