Togo-born German forward Peniel Mlapa has been linked with a £500,000 move to Birmingham City.

According to a German newspaper, the player is keen on a move and the Blues are keen to push it through, but Mönchengladbach are yet to accept the offer.

Powerful forward Mlapa’s scoring record is less than prolific, but clearly Rowett has seen something in the forward which he likes, if the report is true.

He scored just 3 in 24 appearances last year, but at 6’5, he could make a decent plan B for when things aren’t working.

Despite this disappointing record, Mlapa has been the subject of a €3m move in the past, so clearly, there is something about the giant striker.
