Leeds boss Uwe Rosler has explained why forward Nicky Ajose has to leave the club this summer.

The player wasn’t taken on the pre-season tour of Austria and Norway, being left in England to try and find a new club ahead of the new Championship season next month.

Rosler said: “I feel we have certain areas where we have too many players. I think to be honest to players is the best way to be.  We had a good chat with each other. I just said to Nicky that he would find it hard to get regular playing time”.

Ajose must now choose whether to stay another season at Leeds, with limited playing time, or leave in club in a search for first-team football.

Ajose spent most of last season on loan at Crewe Alexandra, with boss Steve Davis highlighting the importance of the winger’s role in the club managing to stay in League 1 on the final day.
