No surprises with worthy champions Bristol City topping the percentage capacity table with them filling their Ashton Gate ground (last year capacity reduced to 13,414; 2016 capacity to be 27,000) to 89.88% of its capacity. Chesterfield (67.18%), who finished 6th last season, finish with 36th placed percentage filled to capacity ground with 10th placed in League One, Fleetwood Town (66.31%), not far behind. Chesterfield’s average attendance of 6,987 was nearly twice as high as Fleetwood’s 3,522 agaisnt ground capacities of 10,400 and 5,311 respectively. Sheffield United topped the average attendance figures for League One with 19,805 at Bramall Lane but fell victim to ‘big ground’ curse with Bramall Lane having a capacity of 32,702. Bradford City, meanwhile, will be looking to improve their average attendance on the back of a reported 18,000 season ticket sales for their 25,136 capacity Coral Windows Stadium. At the other end of the table, it doesn’t look good for Coventry, who limped to a 17th place finish in League One, who only managed to fill the Ricoh Arena to 28.71% of its 32,500 capacity which gained them 89th place overall when considering attendance vs. capacity. Notts County fared even worse, being relegated in 21st place, and only managing to fill 26.36% of their Meadow Lane stadium, good enough only for 91st place out of the 92 clubs.
