Middlesbrough have today (Friday) confirmed that defender Tomas Kalas has returned to the Riverside on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea.
Boro agreed a shorter loan deal for the 22 year old last season in July and during that spell, the defender made 17 appearances for Aitor Karanka’s men and even contributed an assist during his 1,467 minutes of football in the North East.
Boro announced to loan signing on Twitter this morning:

Also, on their Club website, Boro quoted Kalas saying:
“I’d already decided at the end of last season that if Chelsea would like to get me on loan again this would be my first choice, so it was easy when I heard I could stay,”
“I think we’re still building the team. It’s a mix of everything. Everyone is still working on it and I think we will be stronger than before.”
In total, the Czech Republic international has made 117 career appearances and has played 9,852 minutes of football, all at the tender age of 22.
