New Wednesday boss insists top defender is not for sale

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal has insisted that defender Tom Lees is not for sale, despite speculation linking him with a move away from Hillsborough, reports the Sheffield Telegraph.

Both Fulham and Bristol City have been reported to have been interested in the 24-year-old, but Carvalhal insists that no bid was made by any club.

With the boss frustrated by the speculation, he told the Sheffield Star that “we want Tom Lees, to us, he is a very, very important player. I expect everything to be clear in the next few days and he will stay with us.

“But it is not really a question of being clear because our chairman has said that we do not want to sell any of our players.”
Whilst he showed his frustration at the speculation, the 49-year-old also stated that the rumours could unsettle the player. “I think these kind of things disturb the mind of the player. I don’t know who is putting this in the newspapers but to me it is not good.
“If it is true, the people must talk properly but from what I know, we have received nothing official.”
The boss concluded on talk of the ex-Leeds defender moving by saying “the rumours are bad to the head of the players because after they are not able to concentrate on the work properly.”
