Blackburn winger distances himself from a move to Hillsborough

Blackburn Rovers winger Ben Marshall has said that he has no desire to leave Ewood Park, but is flattered by reported interest from Sheffield Wednesday, reports the Sheffield Telegraph.

The 23-year-old has played at the Hillsborough club previously, spending 4 months on loan from Stoke City in the 2011-12 season. With Wednesday’s increased transfer budget this season, there has been a lot of speculation that The Owls will look to bring Marshall back to the club on a permanent basis.

Whilst on loan at Wednesday, Marshall was a popular figure making 22 appearances, scoring 5 and assisting 6 in what would turn out to be a successful campaign for the South Yorkshire side.

Despite this, Marshall replied to speculation by saying “I’m happy here and I’ve got no plans to be going anywhere. I think I’ve been linked with Sheffield Wednesday in probably every transfer window.

“It’s nice to have that bit of interest but I’m really happy here and I’m really looking forward to the start of the new season.”

Marshall made 47 appearances in all competitions for Rovers last season, finding the net 6 times and contributing with 8 assists.
