Birmingham defender David Edgar last night captained Canada to a 0-0 draw with El Salvador.

Though Canada kept a clean sheet, they were far from convincing defensively, which may be a worry for Gary Rowett and the Birmingham fans.

Edgar spent the second half of the season on loan at Huddersfield, despite impressing under the reign of Lee Clark, but may get another chance this year.

Rowett has claimed that signing a defensive player is not a priority, which seems odd given that he didn’t want to play Edgar last year.

Canada’s performance was, by all accounts, disappointing, but not as disappointing as the last league game Edgar started for Birmingham – which I will not need to remind Blues fans of.
