Rotherham United have signed former Nottingham Forest utility player Greg Halford.
The player’s deal at Forest ran out at the end of of last season and a number of clubs were known to be tracking him, but Rotherham United have come out on top.
Halford can play as a centre/right back and has even been deployed as a striker. Although not playing a single game for Forest last season, he spent time on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion and made 19 appearances.
Halford began his career at Colchester United, making 136 appearances before leaving for Reading in 2007. However he spent only a short time there before joining Sunderland and later Wolves.
Halford is known for his long throw-ins causing disruption to opposition defences. This, along with his ability to play in almost any position, makes him a useful player to have on the books to say the least. Halford will link up with former team mate Danny Collins who also signed for Rotherham from Forest recently.
