Genk have confirmed that Belgian international striker Jelle Vossen has signed for Championship side Burnley in a £2.5 million deal.
Vossen spent last season on loan with Middlesbrough and enjoyed a successful season in the North East, becoming a regular in the team, making 33 appearances and scoring 7 times in the league. Middlesbrough ultimately lost to Norwich in the play-off final but that hasn’t stopped Vossen wanting to remain in England.
The striker had actually travelled to England last week for talks with Burnley but they hit a stumbling block and Vossen returned to Genk. Now a fee has been agreed however, the transfer is confirmed and Vossen will be spending another season playing Championship football.
Burnley had been in the market for a striker ever since last season’s top scorer Danny Ings left for Liverpool, with the two sides still to agree a fee for the striker.
