Why every club should follow Bradford City’s example

Bradford City have sold 17,000 season tickets – and it’s only the start of July.

Whilst they’ve always been a well supported side, 17,000 fans every week is incredibly impressive for a League One side, with plenty of Championship clubs not getting that.

So what’s the secret?

It’s pretty simple – their season tickets cost just £149. Yes, £149 – about half of what you would pay at most Championship clubs.

It’s basic economics, and really, it will likely equal more capital for the club. A simple move that not only means more sales, but means more fans through the door, and those fans are happier.

The club stated that the decision was made for the fans, as without fans, a football club is nothing.

It’d be fantastic to see every club test this out for at least a year and see what the results would be – personally I think it would be a success for most clubs, as more fans equal more food and drink sales, more programme and merchandise sales, and a better atmosphere, meaning it would be a better experience for the fans and the club.

A big congratulations should go to Bradford for their commitment to their fans – now let’s get everyone else on board.
