Italian side Torino are attempting to reach a new agreement with Pescara and Iceland midfielder Birkir Bjarnason, after reports emerged yesterday that suggested a deal had fallen through as Leeds had made the player a better offer.

Leeds looked set to miss out on the 27-year-old after the player agreed a deal with Torino. An agreement was made that would see the player receive €450k a year, but once this agreement was made Bjarnason’s camp demanded €500k a year, and this was reported to be due to a higher amount offered by The Whites.

Now it looks like the team from Turin are aiming to sort a deal with the attacking midfielder, and prevent any possible transfer which would see the Icelandic international move to Elland Road.

Uwe Rosler is in the market for a central midfielder and a left winger, two positions that Bjarnason can play in. Whether Torino can strike a new deal for the player remains to be seen.
