Football League Transfer Round Up: 3-5 July

The window is officially open and clubs are not wasting any time in going about their business this summer. Here we provide you a round up of all the deals that have taken place in the Football League over the past three days.

The Championship

Tom Thorpe – Manchester United to Rotherham United – Free transfer

The defender saw his contract expire at Old Trafford at the end of June and joins up with Steve Evans at Rotherham. The 22-year-old made just one Premier League appearance for Manchester United and spent time on loan at Birmingham in the 2013-14 season.

Tom Ince – Hull City to Derby County – £4.75m

After spending time on loan at the Rams last season, Ince has made the move permanent after a fee just less than £5m was agreed between Derby County and Hull City. Ince is the 6th new addition to the iPro this summer and he will be looking to continue his fine record with 11 goals in 18 games last season.

Jack Hunt – Crystal Palace to Sheffield Wednesday – Loan

The Owls have signed 24-year-old full back Hunt on a season long loan. Since joining Palace in 2013 for around £2m from Huddersfield, Hunt is yet to feature for the Eagles and will be looking to impress at Hillsborough.

Danny Collins – Nottingham Forest to Rotherham United – Free

The experienced defender joins the Millers after a frustrating season at the City Ground. Collins, 34, made just eight appearances last season and will be looking to play a bigger part next season at Rotherham.

Conor Coady – Huddersfield Town to Wolverhampton Wanderers – £2m

Wolves have snapped up midfielder Coady from Huddersfield after the Liverpool trainee really stood out last season for the Terriers. He only joined Huddersfield last summer and in just one year Huddersfield have made an estimated profit of £1.5m. Not bad going.

Jonathan Bond – Watford to Reading – Undisclosed

Goalkeeper Bond, who has featured in the England Under-21 side, has penned a three-year deal at Reading. The Royals saw Adam Federici depart for Premier League new boys Bournemouth and were in need of a replacement. Bond has been the second choice at Watford behind Heurelho Gomes and will now be lookign to gain experience at Championship level.

League 1

Anthony Wordsworth – Ipswich to Southend – Free

Wordsworth was released by Ipswich and has instantly joined up with League 1 Southend, signing a two-year deal. He had loan spells at Rotherham and Crawley last season but was surplus to requirements for Mick McCarthy.

Max Power – Tranmere Rovers to Wigan Athletic – Fee to be set by tribunal

Power had been with Tranmere since the age of eight, and at 21 Tranmere are entitled to compensation from Wigan after his contract with Rovers expired at the end of last season.

Tony McMahon – Blackpool to Bradford City – Free

Bradford have added Blackpool defender McHahon to their squad on a two-year deal. The 29 year old saw his contract at Bloomfield Road expire and the move to the Bantams always seemed likely after spending time on loan at the club at the end of last season.

George Elokobi – Oldham Athletic to Colchester United – Free

Free agent Elokobi has rejoined Colchester after not being offered a new deal at Oldham. The 29-year-old played for the U’s between 2004 and 2008 and is the third defender the club has signed this summer.

Mark Duffy – Birmingham City to Burton Albion – Loan

Winger Duffy has been loaned to newly promoted Burton on a deal until January. Duffy joined Birmingham from Doncaster last summer, but was loaned out to Chesterfield in February.

Tony Craig – Brentford to Millwall – Free

Millwall have signed former youth graduate Tony Craig on a two-year deal after he was out of contract at Brentford. In his first spell at the club, Craig made 87 appearances and joined Crystal Palace in 2007.

League 2

Graham Carey – Ross County to Plymouth – Free

Attacking midfielder Carey has joined Argyle after featuring 25 times for Ross County last season. He is the 4th summer signing for Plymouth after penning a one-year deal.

Jamie Burrows – Rangers to Yeovil Town- Free

Rangers youth graduate Burrows has signed for Yeovil on a one-year deal with potential for an extension, subject to appearances. The 20-year old will be looking to prove himself in the Football League after leaving Scotland.

Anthony Barry – Forest Green to Accrington Stanley – Free

Midfielder Barry joins Accrington for the third time after spending most of last term with Stanley. He was part of the squad that one the Conference for Stanley back in 2006 and will want to build upon his previous successes at the club.

Mawouna Amevor – Go Ahead Eagles to Notts County – Free

Togo defender Amevor has signed a two-year deal at Meadow Lane. He joins after being released by Go Ahead Eagles of the Dutch first division.

Danny Green – Milton Keynes Dons to Luton Town – Free

Another signing for Luton, their 9th of the window, with Green agreeing a two-year deal from MK Dons. Green helped the Dons to promotion to the Championship, featuring 14 times last season, but he was released by the club on Friday.

Sam Beasant – Stevenage to Cambridge United – Free

Goalkeeper Beasant has signed a one-year deal at Cambridge after his contract at fellow League 2 club Stenage expired. He is the son of ex-England goalkeeper Dave Beasant and is the 8th incoming at Cambridge in this window.
