Cardiff legend to leave?

According to reports, Steve Bruce is interested in bring Cardiff midfielder Peter Whittingham to Hull City for the season ahead.

If he does leave Cardiff he will be ending a 8 year stint at the club.

Whittingham graduated the Aston Villa youth academy and made his debut for the club against Newcastle in April 2003. The 2003/04 season was a big season for him, making 32 premier league appearances which really gave him vital experience for years to come. After this he didn’t feature much and Villa sent him out on loan to Burnley and Derby County. He didn’t sign a new deal and made the move to Welsh side, Cardiff City.

He joined Cardiff in January 2007 and he scored his first league goal for two-and-a-half years against Barnsley in a 2-0 victory. Arguably, his best season in the blue shirt came in 2009-10 where he played in the second striker role and managed to score 20 goals including a stunning free-kick against Sheffield Wednesday which ended up being his last goal of that season. He only missed out on 3 games last season and played a big part as he always does netting 6 goals, his last being a penalty against Birmingham City.

Steve Bruce will be interested as he and a lot of others know exactly what he can do. A skilful and tricky winger, a goal scorer behind the striker or a calm play-maker in midfield. But it will take a big bid to move him away from Cardiff.
