Merseyside to Munich? Former starlet is a Don transfer deal.

Once highly-rated, Dale Jennings left Liverpool’s youth set up in 2008 to sign for local neighbours Tranmere Rovers. Playing for the Rovers from 2010 to 2011, Jennings caught the eye of a higher-rated team; nothing new there really – it happens all the time to all manner of players.

The thing is the ‘higher-rated team’ were German giants Bayern Munich.

Suddenly youngster Jennings was catapulted from Merseyside and lower tier English football into the cauldron of one of Europe’s largest and more successful teams. Stars must have flashed before his eyes, dreams of stardom and step out in front of 80,000 baying fans in a Champions League final must have flashed before his eyes. Sadly these dreams didn’t materialise, instead he spent only two seasons in Germany playing in the Regionalliga Süd for Bayern’s 2nd XI (20 games – 2011/12) and 16 games the following season in Regionalliga Bayern (16 games – two goals).

After his German adventure with the Kleine Bayern, Dale Jennings found himself back in England and plying his trade with Barnsley in the English Championship. In the 2013/14 Championship season he played 27 games and scored three goals whilst also providing three assists for teammates. Barnsley suffered relegation that season and Jennings spent part of the following season, 2014/15, playing for Barnsley in League One where he racked up 19 appearances, scoring one goal and providing four assists. More pertinently, he also spent six games on loan at MK Dons, the team he has now signed for alongside Welsh striker Simon Church and USA U23 goalkeeper Simon Cropper.

The once-Bayern Munich player will be playing Championship football next season for Karl Robinson’s MK Dons as they look to adjust to life in the Championship.
