Exiled trio to return to Watford first team?

It has been revealed this week that Lewis McGugan, Lloyd Dyer and Diego Fabbrini will all return to Watford’s first team squad in time for the start of pre-season training after being shunned by former Hornet’s boss, Slavisa Jokanovic.

All three spent the parts of last season out on loan, MuGugan had two separate spells at Shefiield Wednesday, Dyer was loaned to Birmingham from January onwards and Fabbrini spent time at Millwall and Birmingham. These loan deals followed Jokanovic’s decision to remove all three from first team training and make them train on their own.

There was controversy surrounding Dyer’s and MuGugan’s exit from the first team with reports of both players rebelling against previous manager Beppe Sannino over his authoritarian approach to training. These rumours continued under Jokanovic with the Serbian taking the decision to banish them completely.

The reintroduction of Mugugan and Dyer to the first team will inevitably cause some discomfort amongst Watford fans, but there is little doubt both possess useful qualities should they get a chance next season, with Dyer’s devastating pace and McGugan’s fierce shot.

Essaid Belkalem and Cristian Battochio will also return to the club after season loans with Trabzonspor in Turkey and Virtus Entella in Serie B respectively.
