MK Dons interested in signing Scotland international

Reports have begun to circulate that suggest Milton Keynes Dons are interested in signing former Rangers midfielder Ian Black.

The Dons are entering their first ever season in The Championship and are looking to bring in at least six new players to boost their chances of survival next season.

Black presents the club with an interesting option as he is vastly experienced and would also be available on a free transfer, with his contract expiring this summer.

He has spent his entire career in Scotland with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Hearts and Rangers; totalling over 296 appearances in the Scottish league matches.

Black has also made one solitary appearance for the Scotland National Team, as well as two appearances for the Scotland B team, giving him limited international experience.

With Rangers still fighting their way up through the Scottish Football League pyramid, Black has arguably not played a high standard of football for over three years.

The jump from the Scottish Championship to the Football League Championship is huge and there is no guarantee that Black would be able to cope with the style and pace of football in England.

However, his experience speaks for itself and if the Dons take a gamble on him then it will at least not cost them much.

Black should at least be considered as an option to compete with Darren Potter and Samir Carruthers for playing time in the centre of midfield next season.

With star midfielder Delli Alli moving to Tottenham, it is important for the Dons to find a suitable replacement.

Ian Black could very well be that replacement.
