AUDIO: Son vs Father as the Windass family face off

The first round draw for the Capital One Cup has thrown up some interesting ties with Yorkshire derbies between Doncaster Rovers and Leeds United and Bradford City vs York City. Away from Yorkshire facing off against Yorkshire, it appears that there is to be another face off of a different kind with father facing off against son…well…almost.

With the draw throwing up Lancastrians Accrington Stanley against recently-relegated Premier League team, it also threw up a familial battle between Dean Windass, who works for Hull City and his son, Josh Windass, who is a midfielder currently plying his football trade with Accrington Stanley.

Josh is hoping to get one over on the old man and was quoted on Accrington’s official website as saying,

“I can’t believe it, it’s a quality draw, I wanted Huddersfield which is my former club but Hull is even better. My dad is an ambassador for them and will be at the game and cheering Hull on – it would be a dream to score against them!”
