Scunthorpe swoop for Swindon striker

Scunthorpe are lining up a move for Swindon striker Andy Williams according to the Western Daily Press.

Williams featured a number of times for the Robins last year and even managed to bag himself 22 goals. Despite this, he was released by the club earlier on this month and he’ll now be looking for a new team.

It looked as if he could be heading to Sheffield United – the Blades were continually linked with a move for the 28-year old but new boss Nigel Adkins reportedly isn’t interested in the forward.

Scunthorpe, who have already begun recruiting some new faces this summer having made five signings already, are now leading the race for the ex-Yeovil player.

The Iron will be hoping to push towards the top of the League 1 table next year with all of these new players coming in and they could be set to bolster their squad even more if they manage to sign Williams.

The striker could be a big help up front at Glanford Park – he managed to bag 35 goals in total during his time at Swindon and boss Mark Robins will be hoping he can help fire the Iron to glory next year.

Reports are claiming he has already undergone a medical ahead of a move and if that is the case, then a deal could be done very soon.
