Wolves have bid for Cardiff forward rejected

Amid their search for a forward to replace the likely-departing Bakary Sako, Wolves have had a £1.5 million bid for Cardiff City’s Joe Mason rejected by the Welsh club with Bluebirds boss Russell Slade keen to hold onto Mason.

Mason struggled this season for first team football last season, making just two appearances for the Bluebirds after being sent out on loan to Bolton for the first part of the season.

Ater starting his career with Plymouth and showing an impressive eye for goal he was snapped up by Cardiff in 2011 for £250,000 as Mason signed a three-year contract, which was later extended to keep him with the Bluebirds until 2016.

Despite scoring 12 goals in 46 games in his first season with Cardiff, Mason has found it tough to get regular first team action and has, on three separate occasions, been sent on loan to Bolton.
