Leeds United midfielders pens new two-year deal

Leeds United‘s Kalvin Phillips has agreed a new two-year deal at Elland Road.

The midfielder, 19, was offered fresh terms and his signature follows on from extensions of Lewis Cook, Tyler Denton, Jake Skelton, Luke Parkin and Alex Purver.

Phillips joined the club aged 14, graduating through the academy and signed his first professional deal last summer.

The former Wortley junior was a regular for the Under-21s during the 2014/15 season, scoring six times in his 23 appearances and earning many plaudits along the way.

Phillips was an unused substitute sometimes in the senior squad, before receiving his debut in the televised trip on Easter Monday to Wolverhampton Wanderers, which Leeds lost 4-3.

Phillips’s home debut came the following Saturday (April 11) against Cardiff City when he memorably found the net and also claimed the man of the match award, despite Leeds losing 2-1.
