Blackpool owner admits to breaking FA rules

Blackpool‘s controversial owner Karl Oyston has admitted breaching FA rules in his use of abusive language towards a fan, report the Daily Mail.

Oyston originally denied any wrongdoing in his exchange with the fan, saying that the use of any information in messages or emails was a breach of his privacy and that he was willing to fight his case. He later apologised for his remarks.

The original information was leaked following Oyston demand a fan pay him £20,000 in damages for disparaging comments made about him on a social networking site. Pensioner Frank Knight, the fan in question, was then rallied around by fans of various clubs, and a kickstarter page was started, succeeding in gaining the funds to pay off his fine.

The abusive messages were allegedly sent to fan Stephen Smith. The text messages showed abusive language from Oyston, calling the fan a ‘retard’ and telling him fan to ‘enjoy the rest of your special needs day out’.

After threatening to ban a fan from the ground, Oyston also joked that his plans are to see the former Premier League side fall to the conference in a text sent to a fan. The text read: ‘I am a never-ending nightmare revenge mission’.

Blackpool’s relegation to League One this season after a horrible season has been well documented, seeing more than half their playing staff released. Blackpool fans have been a constant voice of frustration as the club looks to sink further down the English league ladder, while nothing is done by the football governing body.

A court date that was postponed from March 30th is now set to take place on June 9th. Oysten’s punishment could vary from a fine, to a ban from ownership of a club.

Many fan, of both Blackpool and all clubs, will be hoping for the latter.
